In classic Toronto fashion, the wizards at City Hall have managed to organize Bike Week to coincide almost exactly with a massive crackdown on cyclists. People all over the city (including me) were nabbed for various traffic infractions.
Most of them richly deserve it, and I’m all for better behaviour on the part of bikers and [...]

The entire city of Toronto is seething at the TTC’s latest wildcat strike, called last night at midnight as workers and partiers alike wondered how to get home. It was, to say the least, not cool. An exasperated Mayor Miller will be acting to bring them to justice and get them back to work asap, [...]

Wow. A colleague passed me this — a round-up of illegal signs in the Metro Toronto area. Disgraceful. Not for filling up the world with more ads, which I accept as a battle we’ve already lost as a society, but for not playing by the damn rules.
It’s becoming a bit of a theme on [...]

The quote of the day comes from Torontoist, which is getting stronger every day.
Stephen Harper sends John Baird to Paris while his attempt to make the Tories look like environmental leaders crumbles. Meanwhile, the Fraser Institute and Cato institute - both predominantly run by and consisting of conservative economists - boldly contradicts the scientific community’s [...]

I’m really digging Bob Krawczyk’s fantastic amateur archival site of Toronto architecture.
Warning: right now, it’s dead slow and riddled with errors. I suspect it’s being hammered thanks to an article by Catherine Dawson March in today’s Globe and Mail.
Check it out
