Thank God

Well, it’s been a while since I posted, but sometimes you just see something you need to get out there.

Finns on fish

It’s only when you read things like this that it really hits home: Finland is totally lame. And as I’ve said a million times: Don’t even get me fucking started on Finnish aquatic scientists.
HELSINKI (Reuters) - A Finnish researcher is to study fish in an aquarium while a rock group performs nearby, to see if [...]

Worship the Shark

Apparently a captive hammerhead shark has given birth to a pup without the benefit of sperm.
Incredible, isn’t it? Baby sharks are called pups? WTF?
I’d have started worshiping it immediately, but something bad happened.

Dot whaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

This is interesting, though it’s at such a high level it’s hard to get your head around.

Although it has already taken nearly four decades to get this far in building the Internet, some university researchers with the federal government’s blessing want to scrap all that and start over.
The idea may seem unthinkable, even absurd, but [...]

F.D.Eh?

This is priceless. Makes you wonder what in hell the F.D.A. wouldn’t approve:

Researchers at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico said on Monday they have trained the bees to [...]

Destroy the Humans!

Phone mobility or sperm motility? Apparently you may choose only one.

Here’s a new reason to hate excessive cell phone use: a new study suggests that heavy use of mobile phones may damage men’s fertility.
Researchers found those men who used a phone for four hours or more a day had fewer sperm and those they had moved less well and were of poorer quality.

Greenpeace has launched a site going after Apple for its environmental practices, which are apparently particularly bad. I find it interesting that they bend over backwards to suggest that Apple’s a great company, and that they love Apple. That says a lot about Apple’s brand power as somehow “nicer” than Microsoft/Dell/etc.
If its environmental practices really [...]

This could get interesting…

Here at Bloggerton, there isn’t really a unifying theme or a set of issues, and I certainly feel as though I’ve left my overtly political blogging days behind. So these days, I’m tending to avoid getting wound up — at least in public — about stuff like this.
But damn it, man…
From today’s NY Times:
Biologists [...]
