RIP William F. Buckley
I can’t think of a more fitting tribute to his legacy than this clip of him getting roundly PWND by Noam Chomsky almost 30 years ago.
Here was a man who never let simple, documented facts get in the way of a pithy, condescending and ultimately empty pronouncement about what was best for America, and for the world.
He wouldn’t be especially comfortable knowing that his legacy lives on best in Ann Coulter, who eulogized him fawningly on some horrible site somewhere. But she is his direct descendant, proving once again that the first go round is tragedy, and the second time is farce.
Wherever you are today, Mr. Buckley, I hope for your sake that the people you loved to call “homos” or “commies” aren’t running the show.
