Stop the Scum

Here’s a great idea that, sadly, probably won’t change anything. It’s a site allowing you to report a stolen bike.

Some people say that the best way to deter bike theft is to avoid buying used bikes and avoid retailers who sell used bikes. Virtually all of them are stolen. No customers, no market.

That could be true, but I think another way to deter bike theft would be to pass a law requiring their immediate, public beheading at the scimitar-wielding hands of wizened Steely Dan visionary Donald Fagen.*

This would be in accordance with God’s wishes, but I admit it’s a long shot.

*Or it could be Billy Ocean or Robert Urich. Really, as long as they’re beheaded, I’m good.
