Rookie Error #746

Stephen Harper shows yet again why he’s not fit to run a church rummage sale, let alone a country. This is a guy who could start an argument in a cuddle puddle at a 4-day rave called “Destiny IV: PLURality”:

OTTAWA (CP) - Prime Minister Stephen Harper is upping the ante in the high-stakes dispute over the Atlantic accords, challenging Nova Scotia and Newfoundland to sue his government.

And he threatened Monday to take the matter to court if they don’t put up or shut up.

The premiers of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland accuse Harper of tampering with the Atlantic accords and breaking his promise to exclude offshore resource revenues from the federal equalization formula.

Nova Scotia officials say federal changes to the province’s accord would mean the loss of about $1 billion in revenue over the next decade.

But Harper denies the charges and says such serious allegations cannot be left uncorrected.

“If you’re really serious in the allegation we’ve broken a contract, then I think that you have to follow that allegation up with action,” Harper said.

Hey, why look Prime Ministerial or explain the facts to Canadians when, instead, you could kick people out of your own caucus for voting against you, threaten your provincial counterparts with expensive, publicly-funded lawsuits and flat-out fail to explain your position? Oh, and while you’re at it, talk in code about how the Eastern Provinces are basically welfare bums while your own adopted province teems with workers from those same provinces?

Hey, are there any other rookie errors you’d like to make? Maybe comparing representatives of a labour union to Hitler?

Some days it’s really demoralizing to have a PM who stinks of death. But mostly, it’s just irritating.
